![]() “Creative, original and witty” Audience Member “Innovative use of puppetry and mask” Education Manager, The Courtyard, Hereford Russell Dean and Bethan Tomlinson formed Strangeface Mask Theatre Company in 2001 after meeting at the Central School of Speech and Drama. Russell has worked extensively with Trestle Theatre Company as a designer and mask maker on Bitter Fruit, Blood and Roses, The Adventures of the Stoneheads and Tonight We Fly whilst Bethan became a performer specialising in storytelling. Following 4 original pieces in 4 years the company – then known as The Blue Chicken – showed Hell and High Water at the 2005 Edinburgh Festival. |

From our base in Kent Strangeface now tour to indoor
venues across the UK with the support of
Arts Council England South East, Farnham Maltings,
Kent County Council and Trinity Theatre, Tunbridge Wells.
Since Autumn 2005 we have given more than 200 performances
of Hell and High Water and The Outlaw Fulke Fitz Waryn in
small-scale arts centres, and for 17 rural touring schemes
in village halls and community centres across the country.
We have also created site-specific work for the National Trust
and engaged more than 2000 young people in creating their
own masks and mask performances. |
