IT’S BEDLAM….! An extraordinary evening of rousing songs, eccentric masks and rumbustious puppets. Inspired by William Hogarth’s satirical etchings, A Rake’s Progress is the wild and astonishing tale of Tom Rakewell. Possessed of his dead father’s fortune Tom forsakes the country life and embarks on a riotous journey deep into the heart and seething underbelly of eighteenth century London. Urged on by a Mephistophelian manservant and pursued by his spurned lover Sarah he seems set on a road to ruin.
After their sell out tour of A Christmas Carol, Strangeface present a very theatrical tale of youthful abandon and strange redemption. Both comic and moving, this highly original production also includes Strangeface’s ever popular back stage tour where the audience get a chance to try on a mask, play with a puppet or take a closer look at the company’s renowned ‘trailing edge’ technology.
A Rake’s Progress toured to mid-scale and rural venues throughout the UK in 2011
