Sergei is a lonely boy, bored but not looking for trouble…. it always seems to find him! Following an accident with a football and a great big statue Sergei is looking for places where he won’t be found. Little does he realise that he has found somewhere to hide that really will help him to escape this scrape and the earth’s orbit! As he blasts off on a journey into the unknown Sergei encounters stars, aliens and must defeat evil space robots to save his new best friend. When he comes back down to earth and his babushka he has the universe in his back pocket for a softer landing.
Funny, and nostalgic like a child’s dream…. football, rockets, playing piggy in the middle with Laika the Space Dog, and coming back to earth with the universe in your imagination.
Spaced is for anyone aged 4 or older. Reminiscent of animation classics such as Mr Benn, The Clangers and Oliver Jeffers’ The Way Back Home, Spaced is loved by adults and children alike – “Great humour music & puppetry” “Utterly delightful!”
Spaced started life as a table top piece for 8 audience members using headphones, commissioned by Creative People and Places project Ideas Test. In 2019 we are excited to extend this performance to 50 minutes with larger scale puppets for small scale spaces.
